Wow, it's been so long since I last blogged. I do apologize. All is well at our home and Caleb is doing great. The week before spring break I took Caleb to his school (Kaimuki Christian) to visit his friends. They all gathered and sang songs and his buddies took pictures with him. I took him to check out the new playground too. He's a celebrity there. All the kids know him and everywhere you here, "hi, Caleb" or "that's Caleb" or a bunch of questions about him. It was great and he was happy to see his little friends.
Easter was wonderful. What a day to celebrate that Jesus is alive! Caleb joined in the festivities coloring eggs and doing an easter egg hunt with his brother and cousins. We had a great time with family. How nice it was to be at home instead of in a hospital room for easter!
Caleb, Micaiah, and cousins with their colored eggs!!!

Last week we went to Chuck E Cheese for his cousins birthday. We bumped into a couple of his friends from school there too and their mommies and one of the doctors that cared for him in the ICU. Brandon was encouraging him to learn how to sallow and move his mouth so he could eat pizza as he held a slice in front of him. Caleb started moving his jaw up and down in a chewing motion! We were so excited to see him do that!
I will be taking the boys to Keiki O Ka Aina starting either this Thursday or next week for sure. I'm so excited and so are they. I believe it will be a great thing for them to interact with other kids. I was also just informed that KOKA will be starting a program for children with disabilites in a couple months. How great! I can take them there too! I've been trying to focus on finding out how I can teach Caleb now. We've got a schedule down of all his physical therapy needs and fun stuff but I really want to learn how to teach him. I've still been teaching him somewhat the same way I did prior to his accident. But it's hard to know if he's got it or not. I think I would have to work with switches and a speech therapist to further that. But I've got some information to give me a start.
I just started to add some new things to Caleb's diet. For now, just a little bit of fruit then maybe some veggies. And I also added some other vitamins. (Thanks, Tiffany)
I will hopefully be taking Caleb to do some hyperbaric treatments a little regularly now too at Abbie's house. We are beyond blessed to have the Vara Family in our lives and to live so close to them!
Brandon and I had a weekend getaway this past weekend. It was AMAZING. We went on a United Marriage Encounter (http://www.unitedmarriage.org/) We haven't spent time together like that since we first started dating. We really got to grow together, appreciate one another, re-kindle our love, and learn tools to enhance our marriage and to continue to grow in love. I'm hesitant to give too much away. I wouldn't want to spoil it for anyone wanting to attend one of the weekends. But we recommend EVERYONE who is married to go on a United Marriage Encounter weekend. Check out the website. It is not for troubled marriages...you can be married one year or 50 years. We've seen people who benefited even after being married for a long long time. All we can say is it was absolutely great and we recommend this as a top priority! I've never been so in love...

Oh yes, and the book I had mentioned that I am reading continues to amaze and teach me! Jesus is an amazing God..the one and ONLY healer! There's been a lot more normalcy in our lives lately. I think it's just a different outlook now. I've been trying my best to fit Caleb into everything normal and living as he IS HEALED. And for me, it has made my life much, much brighter.
I do have some prayer requests...The first would be for Caleb to get his trach out very soon. The second would be for smiles. (It seems he's working up to them) And of course for complete healing!
God Bless!
