In the hospital with Pneumonia.

I was hoping for a better post than this one but it's been a rough week...

Caleb caught a cold last week Saturday but wasn't too bad. He was doing a lot better by Tuesday and was well enough for me to take him to his day of therapy on Wednesday. But on Christmas day his cold kicked back in and got worse. He had a fever that eventually became quite high. We had to stay home on Christmas day instead of spending it with family and Caleb was too ill to open his presents. Later on that night I had to put him on oxygen and we were giving him both tylenol and motrin to keep his fever down and had towels all over him. On Friday, (if things weren't bad enough), the electricity went out...on the entire island! It wouldn't have been a bad thing if Caleb wasn't sick and needing oxygen. But we do have a generator that we keep right outside his room in the patio. Brandon and his dad were scrambling for some extra gas since we didn't know what time we would have electricity again.
Well all was okay and we made it through the night. We took him back into see the doc on Saturday morn and he was actually doing a bit better and wasn't needing any oxygen. On Sunday he was still running a fever but looked a lot better than he had the previous days. But yesterday morning his fever spiked again and he needed to be on oxygen once more. I knew it had to be more than just a cold that would run its course since he was on the fifth day of having a high fever. And this time it was just not breaking. While the nurse we had that day was talking to his pediatrician, I told her lets just take him into the ER right now. I didn't want to wait till he got worse or till it got later in the day so she got him in the car and off we went to the ER.
Well, they did a chest xray and discovered he had PNEUMONIA. So of course they admitted him and now we are back at lovely Kapiolani! I was up all night suctioning him and am now running on a large coffee with an extra shot of espresso. Not healthy...but it keeps me functioning. We are praying that they will discharge him tomorrow so that we can all be home for the New Year but I don't think that will happen. We are praying for that though! I wanted to post a lot more great news along with some pictures from Christmas but I'm at the hospital right now and I don't have my computer. We should be going back home tonight for a bit so I we can shower at home, spend some time with Micaiah, and then I can grab my computer.
Micaiah came to visit this morning. He's so cute telling us all that he missed us. Caleb's got an IV in his hand too and they wrapped it with a diaper. Micaiah was curious about everything in there and asked, "Why Kamakana's hand in diaper?" It was funny. Guess he thinks that's pretty nasty to have a hand in a diaper. Normally I guess that would be.
Anyways I gotta get back in Caleb's room but I will update later tonight with good news and great pictures!
He's doing a lot better now and is on antibiotics. He's needing suctioning every two seconds but he is on a mist collar to keep his lungs moist and hasn't had any robinul (his med to keep his secretions less). Please pray that his pneumonia will be gone now and that we can all be home for the new year! Thank you!
