"It is well!" That's our new phrase that we're sticking to! It's a story that's been re-played in my mind after I heard it in church and really grasped it last week, and then heard it again today. (2 Kings 4:8-37)
In this story, a Shunamite's son dies and she goes to see Elisha, a man of God. When Elisha asks her if all is well, she says "it is well." She believed it was well...that her son was well before he was even restored to life. Her son was dead and she didn't focus on the circumstances but knew God's power and didn't worry. She said "it is well" when in other people's eyes it would seem otherwise. So It is well...it will always be well!
Praise Reports: Caleb did really amazing at speech therapy last week thursday. He played a new game and had a board that had different squares on it. I think it was like a touch screen computer thing. He had to touch the different boxes on the screen with his pointer finger in order to tell his therapist what he wanted. Patrick said he blew them away with all that he did. He touched each box to tell them what he wanted to do. I think it was, "I want to play with a ball."
So this past tuesday Caleb's speech therapist arranged a time for Caleb to go down to PacMed (company that supplies special needs things). They have a gaming area that they set up with a big screen tvs and a nintendo Wii. Brandon was off that day so he went with Caleb and Patrick. I was on my way to school and decided I couldn't miss that. So I skipped school to go and meet them there. After hearing all that he's been doing in speech therapy, I just had to go. I'm so bummed that I have been missing out on all these amazing things he's doing. (That's so bad of me, I know...I scolded myself already :) )But we all had a blast. Caleb was challenging us with a mario kart game where he has a wheel that he has to turn to drive. They adjusted it for him so that he could do it by himself and he was turning that wheel and was so excited. His eyes were fixed on that tv screen the entire time. He beat me once after he got the hang of it. Of course, I am very horrible when it comes to those kinds of things...but he was proud he beat me. So he will probably be going back there often now to play games. I got to talk with his speech therapist who was telling me about his previous session in which she was totally amazed. It was great to hear it all from her and she was so excited to see him controlling the game on his own. Everyone there is so nice and helpful too...we are bound to go back weekly. We just have to fit it in Caleb's busy schedule somehow.
Micaiah finished his swimming lessons this past week and he can now swim and float on his back all on his own. It is so amazing to watch. I will post a video of him later. I put a link to the swimming lessons on the right side of the blog. Check it out and spread the word. This is the best swimming lessons I have ever heard of, seen, or known...
However, I must note that as we have put Micaiah through these swimming lessons, one might think that if Caleb had known how to do this then he would not be where he is at today. First of all, that is not a fact. It is possible but I believe it is highly unlikely. There are still many other circumstances in which a drowning could occur even if one does know how to swim. God's plans are bigger than we can imagine and he has a huge plan for Caleb and our family. Maybe it's hard to grasp this concept but Caleb is well, he is healed in Jesus' name...it is our responsibility to realize that and understand it fully and bring ourselves to a higher understanding in our faith. We are learning how to have a deeper relationship with Christ everyday.
Maybe I should also note that after reading the handbook from his lessons I've learned that there are so many ways a child could drown even if you take all precautions. You could have a fence but a toddler could easily find a way to climb over it. I'm sure every circumstance you can think of, it has happened. I do believe that lives can be saved through these swimming lessons though. But in our "case" after a year and a half since Caleb's accident, I've come to learn so much more than what our circumstances are.
And today I can say with all my heart that IT IS WELL!

Great story about "It is Well" Sometimes is so easy to say this and at other times more challenging. Caleb sounds like he is doing great, it's so good to hear about all the progress he is making. I look forward to the day when I read about his complete healing.

Keep the faith by challenging your circumstances. It was nice to see all of you again today.
