(I am writing this blog on Thursday even though the date is saying Friday...Well it actually is very early in the morning but I am writing about Thursday)
Hey, did you know that today is National Prayer day? I didn't. I found out when I just came online and saw it on my homepage (www.enewhope.org) I didn't know there was such a day. COOL!
This morning when the nurse came in Caleb had some reflux. There was a small amount of his formula that she suctioned out of his trach after Brandon had noticed some dribbling down from his mouth. The nurse was worried as it could mean that some is in his lungs and could therefore cause pneumonia which could be fatal. It was a really small amount but she watched him really closely. At about noon she told me that she thinks we should take him in because his O2 level had been steadidly on the lower end for awhile. She phoned a doc in the PICU and told him the situation and he told her we should bring him in right away so we packed up and headed back to Kapiolani once more. At the hospital they took a chest xray and all turned out to be okay and his stats were good. (on their machine) Then we had to wait an eternity to talk to the only GI doctor there is. So we didn't leave the hospital till about 630pm. But the GI doc said he thinks Caleb might be coming down with something so he said to put him on Pedialyte and see how he does overnight then we would talk in the morning. So he's been doing good so far and went to sleep earlier than usual....we had a long day. We weren't able to exercise him again today. But he's gonna get a good stretch tomorrow at his PT/OT appointment.
We don't have a nurse coming in tomorrow...AGAIN. Our scheduled nurse is still not feeling well. Please pray for her. And I just realized that we don't have a nurse for Sunday. gosh...what a bummer. Please pray that God will provide us with a nurse everyday for the scheduled 8 hours per day. That helps us out sooo much when we have a nurse. We were supposed to go get the van tomorrow too but now we might not be able to go since we don't have a nurse to watch Caleb. Well, they are working on it...we'll see what happens. Could you also pray that Caleb will get his gag reflex back soon and that he will start to cough. That would be a huge step for him. It's something so small for us but it's a huge leap for him to be able to do that.
Thank you for being faithful readers and prayer warriors! Prayer is the best medicine for Caleb! Have a wonderful day and may God Bless you in everything you do today!
